The DevOps System Architect is a technical leadership position without direct reports.

The position will provide technical expertise in the area of infrastructure, platforms, and operations.The role will lead the discovery, design, and architecture of solutions for building and maintaining CI/CD platforms, API development and operations to support the HCA mission.The Architect is expected to have a working understanding of all infrastructure domains and platform domains.

The Architect must be able to deal with complex business requirements and turn them into attainable specifications and architectures and follow through with communications to all stakeholders.

The position is to provide technical development leadership and direct coordination between infrastructure platforms with new and existing software products created to support critical patient care at HCA.

This position requires a candidate who can analyze business requirements, help design software products using multiple technologies, and lead the deployment and operational improvements of those products in a Lean/Agile Development environment.

The candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter and must be committed to delivering high quality solutions within agreed upon timelines, make appropriate use of existing enterprise resources wherever possible, and lead the recommendation process for new enterprise resources when required.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for:

Provide technical expertise on projects and initiatives throughout HCA with a focus on automation and DevOps platforms.

Foster relationships with internal resources, vendors and outside entities to identify promising new technologies and determine which technologies should be piloted or tested.

Work with vendors to find better ways to utilize existing technologies.

Provide internal leadership in infrastructure, platforms, and operations.

Speak for and make decisions for the Platform Services group at meetings with business and ITG leaders.

Mentor junior staff and engineers in automation, infrastructure, platforms, and operations best practices.

Develops specifications and implementation requirements for new platforms.Works with implementation engineers to guide implementation.

Ability to assess and review existing application architecture and provide assessment results, recommendations and insights.

Strong background in Source Control management.

Strong background in Agile Principles / Continuous Integration / Continuous Release

Strong background in Cloud/Data Center Administration

Experience with a variety of applicable tools, applications and environments such as: Puppet, Chef, TFS, C#, JavaScript, UML, XAML, R, Python, HTML, CSS, YAML, REST, SOAP, Azure Cosmos DB, ElasticSearch, Microservices etc.

Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services

A working understanding of code and script

Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service

Leads the development of software products by translating the design into requirements, leading the grooming of requirements with developers and stakeholders, and estimating level of effort and staging development activities with the development team

Recommend product changes and raise awareness of technical debt, ensuring software products remain maintainable and supportable for the long term.

Maintain working relationship with Enterprise Architecture and Digital Patient Journey development teams, and ensures current knowledge of approved enterprise resources, and resources under evaluation

Maintain industry knowledge in the areas of software development, software architecture, and products utilized in development, such as databases, security products, automation products and so on.

Work cross-functionally with other App Dev teams across the enterprise to jointly solution architect applications that will provide strategic advantages for the company.

Qualified candidates will have 10+ years of relevant work experience required

Bachelors degree required

OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Lean/Agile techniques in development environment

Technical Skills

Deep Erlang VM and Elixir knowledge and experience required

C#, Javascript, HTML/CSS, Powershell

Unix (RHEL and CentOS) and Windows

Web UI Development Angular, React or other similar technologies

SQL and NoSQL Databases CouchBase experience a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Sitting at desk for 4 to 5 hours at a time viewing monitor and typing.

Ability to work nights and weekends when assigned on-call responsibilities.

Some light travel may be required (less than 20%).
