Job Summary: Responsible for compliance, provision, audits, research & planning for USA and Canada Federal, State & Local Income and Franchise tax liabilities.
Essential Job Duties:
• Prepare and First Review annual Federal, State, and Local Income & Franchise tax returns.
• First Review quarterly and annual income & franchise tax estimates & annual extensions.
• Respond and First Review of inquiries from Federal, State, and Local Income & Franchise tax agencies.
• Coordinate and manage certain in Federal, State, and Local Income & Franchise tax audits.
• Prepare and First Review quarterly provision and assist in true up process using Onesource.
• Research tax law and assist in tax planning, as required.
• Supervise process improvement projects as assigned.
• Mentor and assist in training and development of Senior Tax Analysts and Tax Analysts I/II.
• Identify, initiate and support the continual improvement of quality and efficiency of processes and
systems within the Tax department and LKQ as a whole.
• Assumes other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience:
• BA/BS degree in accounting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Requires good written and verbal communication skills.
• Well organized, detail-oriented & focused.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workload.
• Requires general understanding of GAAP and comprehensive understanding of IRC and State statutes.
Machines, Equipment, and Software:
• Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro DC, General Ledger, Tax Compliance & Provision.
Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:
• Must have the ability to work under conditions of frequent interruptions and be attentive to details.
Must work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
• CPA Certification, Masters of Taxation, Knowledge of Onesource, Checkpoint RIA, BNA Fixed Assets,
Oracle software packages.
• 6 plus years of experience in a public accounting or corporate tax environment or, a combination of
both.
Decision-Making Examples:
• Research and interpret new tax law and determine applicability to LKQ.
• Analyze complex tax issues, related facts & circumstances and recommend solutions.
• Understand LKQ legal organization, divisional & accounting policies & procedures in order to determine
application of tax law.
