Project Manager, IT – REMOTE – Apex, NC
We are looking to add an IT Project Manager to our team who will be responsible for leading and managing a variety of large IT projects and initiatives. S/he will proactively identify issues, communicate, and solve them in cooperation with all business units and IT resources on a regional and global scale.Initial focus will be on Data Center and Cyber-Security projects.
The IT Project Manager will establish and lead a project management process for major initiatives within the IT functional area. In addition, s/he will lead and execute projects directly, and will act as a liaison between IT functions, business units, and regions to ensure the success of the projects.
S/he will report to the Sr. Manager, IT Business Engagement and will work closely with members at all levels within the IT team, as well as various functions, regions and 3 rd party partners as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish standardized cadences to drive progress on major projects including elements such as project review meetings, project updates, leadership communications, etc.
- Track current project progress against key milestones and deliverables, assigning action items to project participants and/or carrying them out to ensure completion
- Manages assigned IT projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and project scope .
- Manages and accounts for unforeseen delays, then realigns schedules and expectations as needed.
- Identify new project opportunities and facilitate the prioritization and allocation of resources to various ongoing projects as appropriate
- Promote and drive cross-functional engagement and management of IT projects that span multiple functions and business units to ensure consensus on direction
- Establishes and implements project communication plans, providing status updates to affected staff and stakeholders.
- Report out to senior leadership on the status of projects, including positive and negative aspects
- Develop and submit Capital Expenditure Requests as needed to support on-going projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- 2+ years’ experience in direct and indirect leadership positions
- Thorough understanding of project management principles and planning
- PMP Certification a plus
- Basic working knowledge of ERP system; SAP preferred
- Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects, priorities, and tasks
- Demonstrated ability to utilize quantitative and analytical skills to assess business situations
- Demonstrated ability to use problem-solving techniques (i.e., 5 Why) to solve problems
- Proven ability to work with, and communicate to, all levels within the IT function and business
- Change management experience, including the ability to create buy-in with key stakeholders, upper management and other functions
