This thriving multi-location optometry group provides full-service optometry to families and residents in Davidson County and surrounding communities of all ages, insurances, and visual/medical diagnoses. Combining cutting-edge technology and a caring team of professionals, Optometric Physicians of Middle Tennessee takes a whole health approach to eye care, specializing in dry eye treatment, low vision, myopia control, ocular disease and management, specialty contact lenses, vision therapy and vision rehabilitation. With seven successful locations and plans to expand, the practice is looking to add an Optometric Technician to the team of 40 employees.
The ideal candidate:
- Dependable

- Has great customer service skills and chair side manner when assisting doctor
- Electronic Health Records experience a must
- Sales background a plus
- Enjoys fashion eyewear
- Ability to assist and scribe for doctor as the role develops in practice
- Detailed oriented
- Flexible and adaptable to change
Optometric Technicians/Assistants are responsible for performing:
- Auto-refraction/ keratometry
- Corneal topography
- Screening visual fields
- Digital Retinal Imaging
- Color vision testing
- Stereopsis evaluation
- Visual acuity testing
- Case history
- Entering the medication history
- Entering the allergy history
- Family history and previous medical history
- Record management (verification that the required testing has been completed and documented)
- All meaningful use documentation
- Entering all patient related data relayed by the doctor
- Assistance in the examination process with ophthalmic drop installation
- Assisting in some procedures
- Participating in the discussion of the patients’ case
- Pre-appointing the next visit or visits
- Providing clinical summaries along with supporting educational videos (from You-Tube or All about Vision)
- Coordinating patient care with other doctors
- Becoming the patient’s advocate
- Assume the role of cl technician/optician
- Take the patient payment
*Experience in eye care is not necessary, we are willing to train someone with a medical assisting background
