Chief Accounting Officer

  • Lead the Bridgestone Americas (BSAM) transactional accounting activities for successful and accurate periodic closing of the Company’s financial results to key stakeholders.

  • Lead the development of technical accounting positions in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  • Lead the strategic development and execution of the second line of audit defense for internal controls over financial reporting.

  • Lead accounting and financial reporting policy and procedure development / maintenance and provide oversight and input for various governance activities.

  • Main point of contact for BSAM external auditor firm to help ensure efficient and effective external audit.

  • Significant participation in BSAM Pension Investment Committee and Pension Steering Committee.

  • Attract, retain, develop, and engage direct and indirect talent for high-performing teams.

  • Establish Influence Through Thought Leadership: Align and lead teams by inspiring followership and gaining consensus across business and functions Demonstrated expertise at driving a vision across the organization leveraging relationships, creativity, and credibility.

  • Model Bridgestone’s Cultural Characteristics: While serving as a senior leader within the organization, model the entrepreneurial and agile cultural characteristics key to BSAM through your hands-on approach to leadership, willingness to take on tasks outside of your role and modeling adaptability towards change.

  • Provide Inspirational People Leadership: Provide your team with coaching and professional development opportunities to ensure they continue to grow as marketers within Bridgestone. Serve as a member of the Finance Leadership Team where you will collaborate with functional, and business leads to advance the finance function within Bridgestone Americas. As a senior leader within the organization, demonstrate an enterprise-wide commitment to talent, teammates, and culture by engaging with employees outside of the function through ERGs, networking, and mentoring opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College graduate (BS) with degree in accounting or business administration (or related degree). MBA preferred. CPA credentialed, preferably with early career Big 4 national public accounting training.

  • 20+ years of progressive financial accounting experience

  • Proven experience leading effectively within a global, matrixed organization

  • Ability to influence actions and coordinate activity across broad cross-business-unit, cross-functional stakeholder groups without direct authority

  • Experience in leading and managing multiple teams driving high levels of engagement.

  • Extensive leadership skills in the areas of organization effectiveness and development, strategic thinking, change management, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience inspiring confidence and influencing C-Suite leadership.

  • Strong communicator, with ability to distill complex technical accounting and control concepts into easily digestible information for business leaders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College graduate (BS) with degree in accounting or business administration (or related degree).

  • CPA credentialed, preferably with early career Big 4 national public accounting training.

  • 20+ years of progressive financial accounting experience.

The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) will have responsibility for the reporting of quality financial statements for the Company and will be responsible for the development and maintenance of technical accounting positions supporting those financial results. This will include oversight of the Company’s accounting policies and procedures. The CAO will also have responsibility for setting the strategic direction of the Company’s second line of audit defense related to internal controls over financial reporting. The CAO will also be heavily involved in the Company’s management of its pension investments and benefits via participation in various committees and will be the main point of contact for the Company’s external auditors.
