Job Summary and Qualifications

The Emergency Room RN Manager ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.  The incumbent will be an experienced ED RN comfortable working in a trauma environment.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice required
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • 1+ years of related experience required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) or CPR required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) must be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained within 1 year of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 1 year of hire

What you will do in this role:

  • Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
  • Support efforts to reduce variation in clinical practice and improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost by ensuring a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care. Support the achievement of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage admissions and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
  • Facilitate effective interdisciplinary care coordination within and across departments, through ensuring staff with appropriate clinical competencies are assigned to meet patient care needs.
  • Provide leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience by instilling accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions that differentiate the organization as a healthcare leader.
  • Review various feedback mechanisms, support the development and implementation of strategies, and ensure compliance with evidence-based practices in an effort to help identify opportunities to elevate patient satisfaction.
  • Lead in a way that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization and implement evidence-based employee engagement practices.
  • Identify development opportunities or training needs of individual employees/teams and provide coaching, feedback, and training to improve performance.
  • Assume responsibility for resolving and/or channeling employee grievances, disputes, or concerns according to appropriate procedures.
  • Represent the organization positively within the community; participate in company-supported community/patient events and in-services.
  • Manage operating expenses and staff scheduling in accordance with needs and established guidelines. Identify cost reduction opportunities and implement actions to achieve savings.
