Family Physician

Principal Role

Responsible for providing quality care to our IDD patients.

Leadership

Provide coaching and mentoring to KD clinicians and staff as assigned by the Medical Department Head.

Demonstrate effective leadership within a transdisciplinary team.

Clinical

Review new-patient information prior to scheduling of initial appointment and at least annually thereafter.

Perform medical assessments in adherence to KD clinical best practices.

Procure genetic work ups as indicated and establish underlying neurodevelopmental diagnoses.

Oversee medication management.

Oversee medical emergencies in the clinic.

Refer patients to appropriate specialists as indicated.

Document treatment in EHR as per Corporate HQ policies and procedures.

Participate in interdisciplinary Clinical Protocol meetings.

Serve as medical liaison with off-site affiliated medical specialists.

Monitor medical services to patients of record at off-site outpatient surgery centers / hospitals.

Provide emergency on-call coverage for patients of record during off hours, weekends, and holidays or designate another licensed physician affiliated with the clinic to do so. (Maximum response time: 1 hour.)

Assist in implementation of and adherence to KD medical best-practice standards and clinical protocols.

Administrative / Compliance

Be available and present for interdisciplinary consultation/collaboration.

Assist in the comprehensive annual review of Medical Department services as requested by the Clinic Director.

Model an attitude of mentoring and teamwork.

Comply with all appropriate HIPAA / OSHA protocols.

Maintain current medical licensure, board certification, DEA / CPR certification, CME compliance, malpractice insurance coverage, and provide appropriate documentation as requested by the Clinic Administrator.

Academic

Mentor students and residents who rotate through the clinic.

Strategic Relationships

Be available to liaise with family groups and programs, at local and state levels, as an advocate in your area of expertise for patients with IDD, and the patient population, as a whole.

Education / Training / Licensure

Medical Degree (MD or DO)

Board certification in internal medicine or family medicine

Current ACLS Certification

Licensed physician

Experience

Minimum 2 years’ experience in the diagnosis and management of patients with IDD.

Skills

Effectively speak and write the English language.

Demonstrate computer literacy – fluent in Word, Excel, etc.
