Sterile Processing Technician II

Role Summary: The Sterile Processing Tech 2 provides a continuous flow of sterile/reusable supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation which require centralized collection, disinfection, inspection, assembly, preparation, sterilization and monitoring to hospital areas with minimal guidance.

Provides these services through knowledge and implementation of regulatory guidelines and designated policies and procedures.

Position located offsite at Vanderbilt Case Cart Operations Center.
Relocation Assistance and $10,000 sign-on bonus for certified Central Sterile Processing techs with at least 1 year of experience

Department Summary
The Perioperative Services Department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center performs more than 48,000 surgeries in 60 operating rooms.

We have 3 Ambulatory Surgery Sites and 3 in house surgical suites.

As a level 1 trauma center, some of the most complex and challenging surgeries in the nation are performed here.
Our Sterile processing department is comprised of two locations that work together to ensure high quality instruments needs are met for patients and surgeons.

With the use of our instrument tracking system, we excel in the preparation of reusable instrumentation and equipment for clinical and surgical procedures across the entire campus.

Services include but not limited to Robotic, Endoscopic, Laparoscopic, Cardiac, Trauma, Neuro, Spine, Orthopedic, Ear Nose and Throat, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Vascular, Donor, and transplant services.

Qualifications for Sign On Bonus and Relocation Assistance:

* Certification (CRCST or CBSPD)
* Greater than 1 year of experience
* The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past two years.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Maintains work environment in a safe, clean, orderly manner.
* Receives, cleans and decontaminates supplies and equipment with departmental policies.
* Performs, documents and monitors all quality control tools.
* Receives and inventories departmental supplies, instrumentation and equipment.
* Prepares instrumentation and equipment according to recommended procedures and techniques in preparation for sterilization.
* Operates all departmental equipment safely and effectively.

Position Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or GED
* 2 years of Sterile Processing Experience
* CRCST or CBSPD Certification
