Accounting Manager, External Reporting

Job Summary:
Manages the reporting of consolidated financial results and information for all Nissan companies in North America. Interacts with financial reporting departments of affiliates regarding consolidated reporting issues to assure understanding of reporting requirements.
Job Functions
- Plans, manages, and coordinates preparation of consolidated quarterly and annual audited financial statements for three companies. Reviews consolidated balance sheet, profit and loss statement, footnote disclosures and consolidated cash flow statements.
- Reviews completed consolidated balance sheet and profit & loss statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assists in the adoption and documentation of new accounting standards.
- Provides guidance to other business units on accounting treatment for significant and unusual transactions.
- Coordinates preparation and review of government reports prior to submission to appropriate agencies.
- Develops procedures and guidelines to assist staff in performance of consolidation process.
- Interacts with external auditors in preparation of financial statements.
- Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training and staff development; interviews and selects employees; plans and evaluates employee performance; counsels and disciplines employees as necessary; recommends termination when appropriate; and monitors time and attendance of subordinates.

Qualifications:
- Job Knowledge and Skill:
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP), International Accounting Standards (IAS), and financial reporting processes. Strong analytical skills.
- Experience:
- Seven or more years of related experience at a professional level. Public accounting experience preferred.
- Supervisory Experience:
- Two or more years as a manager, providing leadership, coaching, guidance, and training and contributing to staff development.
- Supervised subordinates or contractors with somewhat differentiated roles. Subordinate positions carried several different titles. Functions, though similar in objective, were distinct
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. MBA or CPA preferred.
- Computer Skills:
- Thorough computer knowledge such as word processor, spreadsheet, other PC applications, or mainframe applications to resolve complex problems in day to day situations.
