Remote Financial Representative

Summary:

A Medicare Administrative Contractor is seeking a Financial Representative. This role will Safeguard the Medicare Trust Fund via the timely and accurately recover overpaid paid Medicare claims. The role will also handle depositing and recording of cash into multiple bank accounts and into the accounting system, refund, offset of claim payments, creating extended repayment schedules, referrals to Treasury and negotiations with appropriate entities via telephone and written communication.

This position starts February 20, 2023. You will be provided paid training which typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks. Training hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m EST. Following training, work hours are flexible; Monday – Friday, anywhere between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm EST. There is no time off allowed during training.

Job Responsibilities

1) Establishing Overpayments

  • Read and interpret correspondence to determine overpaid situations.
  • Establish debts by performing claim adjustments, resolving suspense and issuing demand letters.
  • Establish Accounts Receivables (AR)s via manual process and issue demand letters.
  • For Medicare Secondary Payor (MSP) overpayments, submit Electronic Correspondence Referral System

2) Processing Incoming Cash Receipts

  • Prepare checks for deposit.
  • Scan checks to be deposited using bank supplied hardware and software and create batch files to be transmitted electronically to the bank.
  • Analyze cash receipt and supporting documentation to determine how cash should be properly allocated.
  • Upload check data into processing systems.
  • Resolve checks received that cannot be deposited by the bank.

3) Performing Collection Activities

  • Apply voluntary refunds received.
  • Perform phone development if required information is missing from refunds.
  • Reconcile money refunded from money due.
  • Reconcile money due and collected based on appeal decisions.
  • Read, research and respond to MSP related correspondence.
  • Read, research and respond to debt collection correspondence.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years directly related experience, including in a customer service or data entry environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and research skills
  • Strong organizational/time management and interpersonal skills
