Position SummaryWe are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team!
The Mechanical Engineering will be a part of our Corporate Engineering function, otherwise known as Process Systems Development (PSD). The PSD team works cross-functionally with safety, production, and plant engineering across our tire manufacturing site locations in North, Central and South America.
This position research, plans, designs/develops, and implements/installs mechanical products and systems such as instruments, sensors, rotary and linear systems, robots, and machines that utilize electromechanical systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal transfer and/or safety systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
A Lead Professional position is a recognized subject matter expert in a job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. A Lead Professional will utilize their skills to drive design using their knowledge of code requirements, best engineering practice, process knowledge, and design parameters. Issues faced are difficult and often complex, requiring innovative solutions and problem solving. Requires periodic communication and interaction with leadership.
Travel requirements are project dependent and vary from 40-65%
Responsibilities
- You will Lead large projects or processes of complex scope, with limited oversight from manager.
- You will Interface with Electrical counterpart to align on design elements and functionality of machinery
- You will Coach, review, and delegate work to lower level professionals including contractors and/or teammates.
- You will Interface with other Project Specialists and Engineers.
- Co-ordinate technical activities performed inside or outside the Company.
- Assists in the development of operational plan, budget, and implements for areas of assigned responsibilities.
- You will Identify continuous improvement (Kaizens) and addresses equipment related issues providing innovative solutions
- You will Prepare documentation, machine, and installation specifications, and assists with engineering standards/procedures
- You will Determine method of research for the planning, design development and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, and/or machines.
- You will Support relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders as well as different levels within the origination.
- Travel requirements are project dependent and vary from 40-65%
Required
- 4 Year degree in Mechanical Engineering (BS), 10+ years’ experience in related activity
- Experience with Machine Design, Fabrication, Installation and Alignment
- 3D Modeling Experience, both self and leading design team
- Experience developing fabrication drawings from 3D models
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Experience evaluating fabrication shop capability and quoting complex systems
Preferred
- Project management experience
- Subject Mater Expert in Inventor/Vault
- AutoCAD Mechanical
- SAP
Minimum Qualifications
8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience
